Two stroke scored barrel advice please...

Hi,

My KMX125 piston ring has broken and damaged the piston which I can
replace quite cheaply (30GBP) but the barrel is also scored. See pics:

This will apparently cost 130GBP to fix properly as it has a Nikasil
liner.

I don't need it to run perfectly - just running will be fine. So my
question is, what would happen if I just replaced the piston? The
score mark doesn't go all the way to the top so I think I will still
get some compression. Will it just damage the new piston/ring?

If it was a scratch, it would be fine, but you have quite a damage
there!

my RM125 (1994 model) has a deep scratch on the cylinder. It runs just
fine like that, I would never win the national MX series with that
engine, but it is enough to have lots of fun on tracks and trails.

A mechanic I know said that two part epoxy weld holds for a few hours,
but I never tried...
