Default Honda CB750C No Spark

Hey Group,

My bike says nighthawk on the side of it, but it's a 1980 so I don't think
that's correct. Anyhow, The coil that fires the outer 2 cylinders is working
fine. The one that fires the inner 2 cylinders only seems to work if you can
get the RPM's up around 4,000. (hard to do on 2 cylinders). Anyhow, I
changed the coil and have the same problem. This bike has a mag, no points.
Any Suggestions?

1980 CB750C

Are you sure *no points?* *No mag pickup?*

Measure the voltage to the coil. If you have voltage and no spark - bad
coil. If you have no voltage at the coil, it's the electronic CDI [if
that's what you have]. 1980? Are you sure *no points?*

Well, lets start off by saying I'm a big dumb AS#. My CM400A has a mag with
a CDI. This has magnetic pickups. Anyhow, now that you got my head on
straight, is there away of checking the pickups with an ohm meter? As I
said, I have power getting to the coil that fires the outside cylinders. No
power getting to the inside cylinders. I admit to not having a lot of
experience with bikes. So any information you may have will be helpful. And
how about the Nighthawk name? The frame says 1980 CB750C.

Thanks Again!

Yep, It's the pickups. One is working, the other is not. The pulse generator
is an expensive part. But I think it will be worth it in the end. This is my
3rd bike. I just don't work on them much. I have a 1979 CM400A, and a 1993
FZR600 as well. I think my next bike will be an HD.

Thanks,
Jason

I know, I was joking. Anyhow, a set of pickups and an OKI later and it's now
up and running. I have to take care of some carb issues now, but once that's
done, it should be ready.
