Nothing, really
John asked for traffic, figured I'd pop a note out.
Saw a thing on American Iron the other night where, after they were done
blowing some aftermarket Harley exhaust vendors wee-wee, they spotlighted
the latest bagger offerings from Victory. Any press is good press, right?

Thanks for posting, Don.
You must be referring to that cluster-f**k "Vision". I don't know who's
"Vision" it was the led to the creation of such an abortion, but I guess
you're right. Any press all right.

Vision?
SB: bagger
JC: cluster F**K, abortion
Interesting.
I did have occasion to ride on recently. Handles very well, impressive
power plant, and nice gee-gaws like cruise control, moveable windshield, and
sound system. Too silenced, sounds like a Gold Wing. (sound of wreching
goes here.)
Ugly. Butt ugly.

Well, it *is* a bagger but maybe I did overdo my criticism. I just hate
that stretched out rear fender, pipe and bag setup. I also don't like
non-movable fairings.
I really DO like the dash layout. OTOH, 106 inches??? Cummon. This is
just furthering the inch war with HD. How much power does one really
need? Is mileage no longer a consideration?

Not a 'touring bike' sort of guy so I'm not a fan of the Vision, looks to
much like the Honda VTX to me and for something designed to tour the bags
are ridiculously small with more wasted space than storage. Lots to like
about it though and it seems to have it's fans but lets see what people say
a year from now when it has been ridden for a season. The 106 may indeed be
a continuation of the bigger is better size race but I also noticed that
Victory has dropped the compression on their engines. Lower compression may
mean no need for premium fuel and better mileage and changes in the gears
could mean even more, but again we will have to wait and see what happens.
My 2005 is a 92 cu. in. they went up to 100 cu. in. the next year but with
those I have checked we get about the same mileage.

I weren't gonna add that part, but yeah it was...how should I say it?
Someone else's Vision of beauty? Kinda like a '61 Desoto,
http://www.hubcapcafe.com/ocs/pages01/deso6101.htm, there's just something
not right about it. To me, anyway, but I'm just one guy with my own simple
opinions.

You mean like this:

Well, at least the rear fender looks similar.

Did I see soft bags inside of the hard bags somewhere online or am I
imagining things? Oh well, if my damned flasher unit (sure getting sick
and tired of riding around with no blinker) ever gets in, I'll maybe be
able to get a look at one in person.
My feeling is that Victory is betting heavily on acceptance of the tour
pack. IME, not too many people like tour packs and the one on the
Victory is especially ugly IMO.

6 gallon gas tank is nice.
As for the lower compression, that might be an EPA thing. Harley was
forced to lean the '07 FL models to death and this might be a similar
response.

Let's hope it's not another Edsel.
By the way, I always thought that the '59 Plymouth was the ugliest
http://www.hubcapcafe.com/ocs/pages01/plym5901.htm
but now I can see that I was wrong.

Well I cannot find a picture that shows what I mean but the comment was
about a VTX Classic Tour that I saw at the International Motorcycle show,
with a fairing and tour pack.

Your opinions may be simple but that doesn't mean you have missed the mark.
